About TMG
Since 1999, the Terry Mardi Group (TMG) has been building credible relationships with youth across the world — driven by a belief that creativity can bridge cultures, change perceptions, and create lasting social connection. What began as a mission to promote equality, diversity, and fair balance in popular culture has become a 20+ year journey of empowerment, representation, and care.
TMG started life in Britain with the powerful vision of our founder, Terry Mardi: to put brown people on the map. At a time when South Asian stories were barely visible in mainstream media, that mission was nothing short of revolutionary. Through courage, collaboration, and creativity, TMG played a vital role in reshaping how South Asian identity was seen — smashing stereotypes and inspiring a generation of voices who continue to shape global culture today.
TMG has always operated with a not-for-profit spirit — reinvesting in the very communities we represent rather than serving shareholder interests. Over the years, millions in private funds have been invested to build a stronger, more cohesive global South Asian creative ecosystem. We’ve built digital, broadcast, educational, experiential platforms and intellectual property that put artists, storytellers, and innovators directly in touch with the public — making space for genuine exchange, growth, and belonging.
Our impact has been deeply rooted in music. From pioneering South Asian music publishing through AMP to leading industry education via the Asian Music Seminar, TMG has helped secure musicians’ rights, visibility, and creative independence. Our influence has reached the charts, national television, and global stages — celebrating South Asian contributions to Western pop culture and breaking down the walls of social ignorance.
But as culture has evolved, so have we. From 1999 to 2020, youth empowerment was our beating heart — and it will always be our proud legacy. Yet today’s world looks different. Social media, global migration, and digital collaboration have blurred boundaries and brought communities closer together. Today’s global culture is a mosaic — shaped by Black, Asian, Global South, and countless other artistic movements that continue to inspire and influence one another in an ever-connected world. TMG’s vision now embraces that fusion fully — acknowledging and celebrating the immeasurable impact of Black culture and the many creative movements that have helped shape our shared global identity.
We now see inclusion as more than demographic — it’s human. We care about voices young and old; differently abled, neurodiverse, and often unheard. We believe in mutual enrichment between generations and cultures, because every story has value, and every voice has the power to change perspective.
Across 15 global territories — from the UK and Europe to South Asia, Africa, and the Americas — our network continues to build partnerships rooted in ethics, sustainability, and shared respect. TMG’s ventures remain driven by the same values Terry instilled at the start: empathy, curiosity, collaboration, and care.
Our mission has never been just to exist within culture — but to help redefine it. We discover and invest in tastemakers, and in doing so, we make communities stronger. Like our founder’s moustache, we continue to grow organically — a little bigger, a little bolder, every day. We wish our forebearers respect as we continue the legacy as a community. Thank you to those who came before us.
We remain proud of our past and inspired by the future.
We remain united by one truth: we do this because we care.
